The first chapter was engaging, enjoyable, and atmospheric. Pity it didn’t continue in that style. The second bored me with the drawn-out dialogue that hinted at conflict but never took off. I realise it was both scene and characterisation setting but the presentation could have been punchier.

Bottom line: too slow for my tastes.
