Twisteries

I’ve started something new on twitter. I’ll be setting up mysteries in 140 characters or less and asking people to reply with what they think the solution is. To make things more interesting, for Twistery #1 I’m giving away a signed copy of A RAZOR WRAPPED IN SILK to the person with the correct answer.

Twistery #1 is as follows:

A locked room, empty apart from the smell of decomposition. They ripped up the boards to find a corpse holding a strong magnet.

You can post your answer on my twitter feed or in the comments to this blog post. Good luck!

  1. I’ve been pondering this all day. Is this is like the game I used to play as a child where we are we allowed to ask questions to which the answer is only yes or no or n/a? Assuming that’s so (and not wishing to stampede you in any way), I’d like to ask these questions:
    1. Are “the boards” made of metal (that would respond to magnetism)?
    2. If they are made of wood (are they?), are they floorboards?
    2. Is there anything else in the cavity which might be responsible for the smell of decomposition? i.e. are we sure the smell emanates from the corpse?
    3. Is the corpse human?

  2. Rats. Just checked your twitter link and it seems the answer is already out there. These new-fangled twitty things will never catch on. Like me.
