It’s always gratifying when a fellow writer says nice things about your work, particularly when it’s a writer you admire. Vanessa Gebbie is the author of two collections of short stories, Words from a Glass Bubble (2008) and Storm Warning (2010), both published by Salt. She is a very fine writer indeed so I have to say I was more than a little nervous when she offered to review my latest novel, A Razor Wrapped in Silk.
I would have been even more nervous if I’d known that she doesn’t generally like historical fiction!
You can find out what she thought on her blog. You’ll gather that Vanessa has written a novel, which is currently at the centre of an auction (bidding war?) between two major publishers. I have a feeling that if you’re going to be hearing a lot more of Vanessa Gebbie soon.
