A week away from publication

UPDATE: P-day today April 1! Competition now closed! I have already printed off the entrants’ names.

So this Thursday, the first of April, is the official publication day of my new novel A RAZOR WRAPPED IN SILK. It’s the third of my historical mysteries featuring Porfiry Petrovich, the investigating magistrate I have taken from Dostoevsky‘s masterpiece, CRIME AND PUNISHMENT.

To celebrate the publication, I’ll be running a little competition, with copies of the book as prizes. Actually, it’s not so much a competition as a straightforward lottery. I’ll simply be asking people to throw their hats into the ring in comments below. Then I’ll use the list randomizer on random.org and give books to the top ten names on the list it generates. The winners will be picked on publication day, April 1, 2010.

No purchase required. No skill involved. Just leave your name, and if you feel like it some kind of comment.

STOP PRESS. There is a geographic restriction for the competition – Europe. So, UK and European entries only please.

STOP PRESS #2. I will be signing the books before they get sent out!

STOP PRESS #3: COMPETITION NOW CLOSED!

And now, to get you in the mood, here’s the trailer:

  1. Hi! have RT your comp but please do not put me in your virtual hat as I have already won a copy which I started reading last night! Am enjoying the introduction to your characters and scene setting. BTW I really love the cover and would have bought it !! Thanks.

  2. Blinking heck, that was quick! Five names already. Thanks to you all for entering. I am afraid that I forgot to mention the geographic restriction, which is Europe. I hope that doesn’t affect anyone. Apologies.

Ooh, yeah yeah yeah! I would keep it in bubble wrap and kiss it every day. And read it of course.

Having already read one of your fantastic & intirguing books i would love the chance to win this one. Especially as having major surgery on 8th April & going to need a good book to help keep my mind occupied. xx

  5. I sometimes wear a cap – especially when it’s raining. Here you go.

Hope it stays sunny for a while.

    Good luck with the launch!

  6. Oooh. I never knew so many people had hats! In this day and age? Surely not.

Loved the other two books – I’m sure this will be a triumph.

Congrats and good luck with the launch and future.

  7. Hey, I’ve just thrown my hat into the ring.
Can you see it? It’s over there. Yes, that’s it – the one with the big floppy brim.
So long as you can see it and give me it back because I’ll need it to shade the sun from my eyes as I’m reading your book!

    Regards

    Neil
